CH 1: Thanksgiving and Charge to Timothy
Q1. Paul wrote 2 Timothy, a bit personal letter, in his second imprisonment at Rome before his martyrdom. From chapter 1, find expressions that reflect Paul’s resolute tone and hope before his death and his personal relationship with Timothy.
Resolute tone before death or hope for life: the promise of life (1), accept your share of suffering (8), He has broken the power of death (11), I suffer as I do (12)

The calling to a life of immortality. (salvation)
The calling to participate to the gospel and to suffer for it. (ministry) In chapter 1, it is not clear if the holy calling means a calling to ministry.

CH 2: Serving faithfully despite hardship & False teachers
Q1. Paul compares the ministers of the gospel to three occupations: soldier, athlete, and farmer. What could be the related exhortations as we work for the Lord?
As a good soldier: Do not be entangled in matters of everyday life
As an athlete: Compete according to the rules
As a farmer: Expect you will get the first share of the corps.
Q2. What would be Paul’s reasons when he endured suffering? (v8-10)
Hope of resurrection. Because of the gospel that Jesus raised from the dead.
Salvation of others. For God’s message to spread more that God’s chosen would return home.
Q3. “If we () with him, we will also () with him. If we (), we will also () with him.”
Q4. As false teachers emerge and deceive people, how to deal with it? (three, v14-16)
Charge the people with the authority of the Lord not to wrangle over words.
Present yourself before the Lord as a proven worker teaching the message of truth accurately.
Avoid profane chatter
Q5. In verses 18-26, Paul explains the reasons for those instructions how to deal with false teachers. Even though some are upsetting people, and others are being upset, the () of God’s church remains standing, bearing this seal: “(), and everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must () from evil.” Because of this, you’d better keep yourself from engaging in () but be kind toward (). CH 3: Ministry in the Last Days
Q1. Why is the ministry hard in the last days?
People will become lovers of themselves, loves of money,….loving pleasure rather than loving God. They keep coming to church and have the forms of religion, but deny the power of godliness.
Q2. What is a little relief regarding those in verses 2-5? (v9)
Their foolishness will be revealed to everyone. And their influence will stop spreading.
Q3. What is Paul’s instructions for Timothy in the last days? (three, v10-11, v12-13, v14-17)
Keep following my teaching and my way of life as you have heard and seen from me.
Know that all who want to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
Continue in the things you have learned and are confident about, from the Bible.

CH 4: Charge to Timothy & Closing

They don’t want to listen to instructions and but like to debate for intellectual satisfaction.
